The maintenance shop was a disaster. Equipment not properly maintained, no records, no organized inventory.

  • Contracted a well recommended mechanic to help train the assistant mechanic and organize the equipment, shop and inventory greatly improving maintenance, record keeping, inventory which allowed us to properly maintain the equipment and maintain the shop organized and clean.

Upon reviewing the golf course it became pretty obvious that there were some problems with the irrigation. Even in a country that rains nine months of the year there was a water storage problem.

  • I convinced the owner to enlarge the irrigation lake and use the dirt to raise an area that was below the flood plane in order to sell this area as housing lots and help recover the costs.
  • The main lake had to be dredged and the intake structure rebuilt. This would help limit the invasion of the common bermuda grass.
  • We tested several wells on the property and discovered several that produced enough water and tied them into the irrigation lake.
  • Irrigation heads were added and moved to acquire better coverage around several greens greatly improving playing conditions in this vital area.

The greens when the course was renovated were given on a contract basis. The result was greens were planted with a mix of paspalum and common bermuda.

  • The owner allowed me to use several lots as a greens nursery. I installed irrigation, prepared the base for planting the nursery toward a future green sodding project.
