Zachary Carr

Desert Child is a working band that makes it primary revenue through weddings, and using this revenue to pursue the creation of our art. I am responsible for coordinating the details of the weddings with brides and planners and acting as production manager day of. Additionally I am responsible for all business administration tasks such as payroll, taxes, bookkeeping, etc. I am also a member of the band, which has allowed me to play bass at a professional level for 5 years. It has helped me hone the craft of playing in front of large audiences, songwriting and arranging, and leading a group of musicians in a professional setting.

Leading groups of at-risk youth through the backcountry one five day backpacking expeditions. Responsible for the implementation of therapeutic objectives assigned by therapist, risk management, navigation, teaching of primitive skills, maintenance of physical and emotional safety, supervision of junior guides, mentoring of students and communication with base camp.

Working as a field guide help me develop physical, emotional and spiritual toughness, stress inoculation, and the ability to keep my nervous system regulated in groups of very disregulated people. Field guiding gave me years of experience being a compassionate heart for people who are suffering deeply.
