- Master’s Scholarship Researcher and Project Leader in Biomedical Engineering: Development of Antimicrobial Peptides Using Deep Learning for Therapies Against S. Aureus and Malassezia furfur, funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Colombia (Minciencias).
- Spearheaded the development of antimicrobial peptides targeting Staphylococcus aureus, using the AMPs-Net deep learning model, achieving successful identification and experimental validation of therapeutic candidates.
- Currently designing and implementing a novel neural network model for the discovery of antifungal peptides targeting Malassezia furfur, advancing the project’s scope to combat fungal pathogens.
- Led a multidisciplinary team under the funding and guidance of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Colombia (Minciencias), and Andes University, ensuring timely progress and compliance with research objectives.
- Conducted computational in silico analyses, and applied advanced artificial intelligence techniques for the rational design of antimicrobial peptides. Developed by the CINFONIA group, and also creating new models for the fungal antimicrobial task.
- Collaborated with experimental teams for in vitro validation, employing susceptibility assays, and biophysical techniques to evaluate the therapeutic potential of selected peptides.
