Work History

Administrative Assistant

Douglas County Government
03.2016 - Current

Provide critical technical and administrative support to Planning Services, Community Services, Planning Resources and Parks, Trails & Building Grounds and Reservoir. Additionally, this position is dedicated to providing support to the Director of Community Development. This role is responsible for various tracking and reporting measures used to manage department production and success.

I Coordinate with each division on budget requests for the upcoming physical year to include PT&BG's Capital Improvement Plan. I am currently working through creating a clear outline of the different PT&BG funding sources and the projects within them. Through these efforts, it is my goal to hand over a product to the PT&BG leadership team that will make their budget more easily digestible and succinct for all making budget propositions.

Over the last 7 years, I have worked heavily in JDE to include reporting, budget requests, purchase order requisitions, change orders, journal entries and budget reallocations. I have good working relationships with budget and finance staff and have been successful in keeping all processes within policy and in a timely manner.

I am the lead on creating, reviewing, and collecting signatures on all contracts that are needed in our department. I have experience with subgrantee agreements, public contracts for services, and construction contracts. I work closely with legal staff to ensure all contracts are in good standing. I work with staff to prepare and submit staff reports for board approval as necessary.

In the most recent years, I have worked closely with my supervisor to expand my knowledge in personnel-related tasks. I have been involved in onboarding, de-provisioning, conducting interviews, developing interview questions, and working in Talent Center to create job postings. I have good working relationships with staff in Human Resources and feel confident in my ability to navigate personnel responsibilities with good judgement.

I have enjoyed working with the Director and staff to meet the needs of staff who have certifications to maintain, plan additional training opportunities, and help keep an atmosphere where continued education is valued. I am currently working on my PACE Certification (Professional Administrative Certification of Excellence). I have introduced my administrative team to PACE and am working with them to help get our entire team certified. This certification shows a dedication to continued learning and professionalism and I am genuinely excited to see my team continue to excel and advance in our field.

When I am not at work, I am spending time with my husband and wrangling three little boys!

The idealist in me would like to report that we often go camping, fishing, and hiking but the reality is, we spend most of our free time playing nerf, educating ourselves on Star Wars Canon and doing laundry.
