Work History

CNC Machinist V

Sierra Space
02.2024 - Current
  • Ongoing process development and operation of OKK VC-X500 5-axis CNC mills, OKK VM-53R 3-axis CNC Mills
  • Advanced CNC Programming: multi-axis tool pathing in Mastercam, and Mastercam post processor development
  • Facilitated Mastercam training for our team through a consultant who is a former product owner with Mastercam: vector-mfg.com/services/training/
  • Siemens / NX CAM training: NX CAM Manufacturing basics, Turning Operations, Fixed and Multi-Axis Machining, Teamcenter Integration for NX users, CAM Customization and Configuration
  • NX CAM integration: currently project to integrate NX CAM with ongoing machining operations. This includes post processor and machine simulation development, establishing tool libraries, templates files, and machining data libraries.

Sr. Prototype Machinist

Ball Aerospace
02.2017 - 11.2023
  • Mastercam CNC Programming: 3 and 5-axis mills
  • DMG MORI: 5-axis Programming & Operation
  • Haas VM2, & VM3: 3-axis and 3+2-axis Programming & Operation
  • Detailed knowledge of cutting tools for machining aluminum, titanium, and other aerospace alloys
  • Continuing Education: Completed internal GD&T training, 5-axis Mastercam training at DMG MORI in Wheat Ridge, CO.

Machinist IV

Boston Scientific
09.2014 - 09.2016
  • Company Overview: Boston Scientific acquired the atherectomy and thrombectomy product lines which I supported from Bayer HealthCare. Initially supported continuing model shop operations until being relocated and integrated into a high volume machining factory at BSCI’s Arden Hills campus.
  • Process development and machine operations on a GF / AgieCharmilles Cut 1000 Oil Tech wire EDM running 30μm (.0012”) wire.
  • Applications and process development (CNC programming, fixture design and build, setup, and initial operation) on vertical machining centers with intent to take development parts to medical device production.
  • 2 day one on one training on Citizen lathes - high volume low mix medical device production in a 'Machining Factory'. Produced hundreds of pacemaker parts a day or hour depending on work order.
  • Boston Scientific acquired the atherectomy and thrombectomy product lines which I supported from Bayer HealthCare. Initially supported continuing model shop operations until being relocated and integrated into a high volume machining factory at BSCI’s Arden Hills campus.

Sr. Machinist

Bayer HealthCare
10.2011 - 09.2014
  • Supported atherectomy and thrombectomy manufacturing operations
  • Assisted engineering with developing fixtures, prototype manufacturing, and repairing existing equipment
  • 3 & 4 axis CNC Mill and CNC lathe programming using GibbsCAM
  • Setup, programmed, and operated HAAS CNC Mills, and Hardinge CNC lathes.

CNC Mill Operator

C.G. Hill and Sons
05.2010 - 07.2011
  • Setup, made necessary G&M code edits on, and operated large vertical machining centers (HAAS VF4, VF7, VF9) in a fast-paced job shop environment

CNC Machinist / Shop Lead

Dependable Solutions Engineering
08.2006 - 05.2010
  • Lead projects from design review through completion. This included ordering materials and tooling, machining, coordinating outside services, assembly, final inspection.
  • Assisted and directed other machinists - delegated work from BOMs and signed off on temp’s time cards as needed.
  • Setup, programmed, and operated 3 and 4-axis CNC mills, CNC lathes, wire EDM, and surface grinders.

Machine Builder / Manual Machinist

Industrial Tool, Inc.
04.2005 - 07.2006
  • Specialized in general machining and fixture building. Additionally required to be competent in a wide variety of tasks including welding, sheet metal fabrication, and onsite installation
  • Individual projects included: integrating robotics into CNC machining cells; setting up end of arm tools and pneumatics on robots; building hydraulically operated fixturing for CNC machining centers
  • I worked directly with engineering. Assigned to build complex assemblies from BOMs. Ordered material and delegated work around the shop as needed

Manual Machinist

A-1 Hydraulic Sales and Service, Inc.
02.2002 - 04.2005
  • Maintenance and manual machinist; primarily machined parts for hydraulic cylinders
  • Operated a large gap-bed lathe for machining large parts; 18” chuck, ~10’ between centers
  • Became accustomed to 'managing up'. Worked closely with small business owners to write estimates, order seal kits, and other materials for repairs.

Apprentice Machinist

Com-Tal Machine and Engineering, Inc.
07.2000 - 02.2002
  • Worked part-time as an apprentice while attending Century College
  • Learned to safely operate manual mills and lathes
