Summary

I am a Highly motivated sales associate with extensive customer service and sales experience.
I have a complete understanding of the Hospitality and retail business. I have experience in working in all aspects of the hospitality industry which is much like the Interior Design business that I've worked extensively in during the past several years. It's all Hospitality as I see these industries.  I'm able to perform work and tasks under pressure.

Able to work with the many varied personalities in a multi-cultural city such as Los Angeles and San Diego.
I Understand the hospitality business and the retail venues often associated with the hospitality industry are a multi billion dollar industry which beats directly to the pulse and the strength of the economy.
I am most effective at multi tasking but, completely understand that balance and juggling several clothing& accessorie lines or venues require strong leadership qualities as well as a creative flair to engage and sell or manage those venues successfully. I am that type of individual who works effectively with a small group of people who are working together toward the same desired outcome. Proactive Retail store  Manager with 8+ years product management experience in a small start-up business environment.

Work History

Manager, owner

Antiqua
03.1994 - 08.2003
  • Hired initially as creative manager of large furniture and Antique showroom. Initial hire responsibilities included assisting with design and build out of 2; 13,000 and 5800 square foot showrooms for the purpose of creating a retail and wholesale design resource showroom for the interior designer or home decorating client on the Westside of Los Angeles. Initially Responsible for hiring showroom staff, coordinating contractors, sub-contractors, ordering and coordinating furniture pieces, Antiques, lighting, flooring and all home accessories.
  • Coordinated sourcing from other parts of California, Italy, Spain and Peru to purchase and procure furniture pieces. Most were Antiques bought or consigned to increase profitability and appeal to the varied Los Angeles consumer. Also, I created and became the showroom interior designer. I was head of sales, responsible for showroom layout and design, created and implemented a marketing plan to draw the customer base from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Arizona, Florida and New York.
  • During this 10 year period, I worked mainly in Sales. We worked a great deal with Interior Designers and other consumers educating them on purchasing an antique to designing custom furniture, upholstery, as well as sourcing specific Antique pieces we did not have at a particular time. This, at times, also involved working with multiple vendors to complete a job. This comes very natural to me.
  • I am very independent, but I am also someone who appreciates the team based coordination involved with many projects. I have the personality for tasks to be delegated from and to myself. I work efficiently with team members involved on a project.
  • I work very well, if not best under pressure. I am very good at multi tasking.
  • In order to be a successful design professional, listening and communication is most important. These are forms of professionalism along with respect, which are most important in the managing of a large scale project with a high dollar amount; or the potential for the demands of this position.

Design Comes Natural&Malibu On The Greene
11.2013 - 01.2015

I was missing a retail environment and decided to open my design studio. I felt there was a need for Art in Malibu. As a designer, Art is an integral aspect of design; commercial or residential.

  • sought out different Artists with whom I chose to represent and negotiated consignment terms, based on a specified period of time.
  • the artists primarily are from the South, California and Belgium. Have "by Appointment"hours during the week and opened on weekends.
  • Have established myself within 3 months as A "go-to" gallery in Malibu.
  • This was an attempt to allow me to understand more clearly if the store front business was the direction I had hoped to re visit. Unfortunately, this location is a real "destination place," and I live upstairs. I have decided to pursue this avenue on a larger plane, and I have re located down South, San Diego. This is the reason I am applying with your company. I so appreciate the many aspects of design and feel I need to part of a broader scenario where I am around like minded people with like minded goals.
  • Feel my efforts are needed and that I would excel most in a team environment versus a sole proprietor.

Moving Forward

Because of my interest and the upward trend of the travel/Leisure, & the Design /Home industry, I believe consumer confidence is up and consumers are more and more comfortable in spending on that home away from home experience. However, I also believe and have witnessed that those consumers also expect more. Because most suffered from the downward spin of the economy, some expect their dollar should go a bit further. This is where we come in; This is where upper level compassion & experienced managers and sales people have an opportunity to gain and encourage even more consumer spending.  This is an utomatic avenue if you will.

Often times traveling and trying to find that home away from home experience can be emotional. Designing that home or creating that home away from home experience is something Omni La Costa does very well.   Consumers or travelers who expect a certain level of home when they travel tend to be able to maximize their experience with a more relaxed spending confidence. With this confidence, other areas critical to the overall hotel experience should also be found. These areas include food and the retail shops which accompanie higher end hotels.  Consumers should find a level of service and quality here for them as well in order for their personalized experience to be full and meaningful enough to leave home. The shopping experience here is more personal, and there is an overall level of excitement, because you are away from home. With the Market place near the area of the check-in, there is a very positive buzz and generally people are very happy when they check in to a hotel in such a beautiful location and setting. As an employee of a high end hotel, such as Omni, La Costa,  this is another very opportunistic avenue to encourage the business or vacation traveler to relax, enjoy and spend more.

I feel my experience and my career objective Has always been to pursue a business that would need the more sophisticated and experienced staff associate to appeal to this level of expectation.  Meeting the needs of this more sophisticated traveler allows us this opportunity to cater to them in order to provide that overall travel experience in making these consumers travel more frequently, thus spending more!
