Over a six day period, successful triaged, treated and aero-medical evacuated 2,576 patients and set an Air Force single day record in transporting 823 patients. In the seventeen days on the ground, worked with forging a seamless partnership with federal, state and local relief worker to help move over 27,000 evacuees from the City of New Orleans.
  • Spearheaded a new patient advocacy program, to improve patient satisfaction rating in the ICU and Medical-Surgical Unit. Researched evidence based best practice solutions to the problem and implemented a patient driven inpatient treatment team. The patient treatment team consisted of the primary provider, charge nurse, staff nurse, patient and their family. The team would round in the morning, discuss the treatment outlook with the patient, gather patient input on the treatment plan, make corrections and let the patient set goals for their treatment. This resulted in an increase in patient satisfaction scores from 72% to 92% in 2005. The efforts lead to and overall “excellent rating from the Health Services Inspection team and The Joint Commission.
  • · Project manager for Scott Air Force Base self-aid buddy care program. Worked with Air Force Medical Headquarters quality improvement teams to update research and implement new Air Force Wide Self Aid and Buddy Care program. Co-author of new Air Force instruction and training materials, that were used Air Force wide for the program. Resulting in, 100% organization mobility deployment readiness of 1,308 active duty personnel assigned to the medical group.

Resulting in a reduction in length of stay days, by 2 per ICU admission. The medical group saved annually 150,000 dollars in staff travel and training cost.
