Founder/Owner of a product design and development company formally granted 25 US utility patents since inception in 1990. Mr. Caldwell offers almost four decades of practical, commercially oriented machine design and product innovation. Known for his creative thinking and unique design style, he has consulted for the world's top companies including 3M, IBM, Honeywell and Combined Tactical Systems. His results driven approach and project management background have yielded a wide array of patented consumer, medical, sports and military training products. Over his career, Mr. Caldwell has honed multiple engineering disciplines including advanced CAD simulation, finite element analysis, creative design, robotics, process automation, electronic design and advanced manufacturing techniques. He has a proven record of bringing innovative products to market on time and under budget. In addition to his current position as CTO of Design Sciences, Mr. Caldwell was the Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of Liberty Dynamic, a start-up specializing in the design and manufacture of military hardware and distraction devices. Previously he was the VP of Product Development for Combat Training Solutions. Mr. Caldwell was granted two US Air Force contracts to adapt fuel-air distraction technology to drone (UAV) and terrestrial robot applications. In September this year, Mr. Caldwell was granted a US utility patent for a less-lethal distraction device with an electronic fuse and high efficiency output. (US 12,410,995 ). Due to its lightweight and electronic trigger, the technology is a perfect fit for many UAV and robotic applications. Listed among his extensive patent portfolio, Mr. Caldwell has also designed a robotic baseball pitching machine that accurately throws random pitches and a wireless underwater robotic camera for the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Mr. Caldwell is also founded SuperVee Tremolo Systems www.super-vee.com; one of the leaders in aftermarket electric guitar hardware. Mr. Caldwell invented a guitar bridge which improves sound quality and simultaneously fixes the tuning stability issues inherent in Fender electric guitars. With over 15,000 units produced and sold, Super Vee products have been adopted by industry-giant Fender Musical Instruments (FMIC) and have become the gold standard for top musicians all over the world. Mr. Caldwell has gained expertise in a wide variety of technologies and stays current with contemporary manufacturing methods including rapid prototyping. He is known for his outside the box approach to new product development and is responsible for projects involving complex mechanical systems, electronics and software.
