- Club Noel, Fundación AlegrArte: In Cali's downtown there is a Public Children's Hospital that has existed since the early 20th Century and has served our the most vulnerable of our city's poorest and most marginalized communities, children from impoverished backgrounds. Most of the time, their stay at the Hospital can be depressing knowing that childhood is the most colorful and playful stage in life. Therefore, my friends and I started a charitable organization with the help of the hospital's officials in order to make their days a little happier with artistic activities. On Fridays we organized a group of students that brought colored pencils, paper, scissors, costumes, cardboard and many other types of materials in order to spend the afternoon with the kids; many of them suffer from terminal diseases or are the children of immigrants and looked forward to these encounters as their day's happiest moment.
- Social Service Gaitán: From 2017 to 2020, I taught English at the Escuela Jorge Eliécer Gaitán in Jamundí, Colombia, a public pre-school in a a rural area in extreme poverty as part of the Social Service Gaitán initiative at Colegio Colombo Británico where I learned how to teach English from my own professors and then, designed the classes for kids. English is a language that can help provide social mobility in underdeveloped nations such as Colombia and I firmly believe that, by helping these children learn the bases of English, I am also serving a larger social cause to improve these children's and their families' futures.
- Conciencia Verde: On August 30th 2018, after months without any rain, Cali's mountains caught on fire for days without any foreseeable end. My friends and I felt the responsibility to help the environment recover once the fire was over. We started an environmental organization whose purpose was to plant trees in Cali's mountains and carry out river-cleaning activities. Since 2018, we have planted more than 2000 trees with friends and family along with the help of the local government. I feel we have contributed at least a little to help our ecosystem and since late 2018 Cali has experienced much less fires and there have even been reports of otters in our nearby rivers.
- ASOBILCA MUN: I was president of two debate commissions in the Association of Bilingual Schools of Cali where we had the opportunity to organize Model United Nations-style debates with children from Cali's most underfunded schools. My responsibility as president was to teach them debate skills and the functions of the UN. We prepared the children for more than 3 months in order for them to debate with kids from other schools. I truly believe many of Colombia's future leaders are shaped in this organization as they often fall in love with politics, diplomacy and government, inspiring them to be the actors of change the country needs.
- Musical: Since grade 6, I have participated at my school’s musical, in performances like Rock of Ages (2014), Frozen (2015), High School Musical (2017), The Greatest Showman (2018) in a leading role and Aladdin (2019). Here, I have danced, sang and acted in front of 4000 people after ten months of training choreographically, vocally and theatrically. I have made some of my best friends and have had some of the best experiences in my life after expressing myself in ways I cannot do anywhere else. When we are preparing and rehearsing for the musical, I can spend up to 40 hours a week in this activity.
- Swimming Team: I belonged to my school's swimming team from 2015 up until my senior year.
- Mass Choir: With the experience I gained at the musical, I enrolled at the school's Mass Choir. We have a strong Catholic tradition and celebrate numerous events such as St Francis Day, Christmas Novenas, Ash Wednesday and I enjoyed directing the male section of the choir where we prepared songs for our celebrations.
- Social and Environmental Justice Activism: Inspired by Greta Thunberg's Fridays for Future, my friends and I have organized numerous protests in our city to address climate change, the first in our city's history and we are currently the main leaders of the movement's chapter in the Valle del Cauca. Additionally, I have also helped organize protests and parades such as LGBTQ Pride 2018 and 2019.
- Alliance Française de Cali: I have studied French since 2015 and I am currently in the B1.2 module. I also earned a diploma from the French Ministry of Education certifying my knowledge at the A1 level.
