Perform mechanical design, development and analysis of the tank & components like stiffeners, cover and external components like coolers, conservator, pipe work, turrets, etc. Prepare master layout in collaboration with electrical, leads and clamping designers.
Use 2D and 3D CAD (Autocad, CREO) software to model designs and individual parts to support the generation of engineering drawings and prepare bills of material.
Perform mechanical calculations like stiffener, lifting, the center of gravity, oil & weights, etc., and sizing/selecting of accessories like fans, pumps, terminals, breather, valves, bellows, etc.
Knowledge of the American & international standards (eg. IEEE, ANSI, IEC, CSA) related to transformer tanks, tank components, and materials.
Perform mechanical design of the tank & components for the handling (mixing and dilution) of fluids and substructures for drilling and oil extraction stations.
Develop conceptual designs based on the requirements, considering factors such as fluid properties, structural integrity, safety regulations, and ease of maintenance.
Once a concept is chosen, proceed with detailed design work. This involves creating CAD models, specifying materials and dimensions, and selecting individual components such as valves and structural supports.
Prepare detailed documentation including engineering drawings and bill of materials.
Work with manufacturing teams to oversee the fabrication and assembly of the tank and components.
Understanding of materials used in transformer mechanical design to select appropriate materials based on mechanical properties and cost-effectiveness
Aptitude for analyzing complex mechanical problems related to transformer design and developing innovative solutions to address these challenges
Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, convey design requirements and specifications, present design proposals to stakeholders
