Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate, real-time inventory records for all cannabis and non-cannabis products using tracking systems (e.g., METRC).
- Perform regular inventory audits and reconciliations to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Oversee product intake, storage, and movement across departments (e.g., cultivation, manufacturing, retail, distribution).
- Implement and improve inventory control procedures, including packaging, labeling, and storage guidelines.
- Ensure products are rotated properly (FIFO/FEFO) to maintain freshness and compliance.
Purchasing & Vendor Relations: • Source and negotiate with licensed cannabis vendors and ancillary suppliers for best pricing, terms, and product quality.
- Manage purchase orders, delivery schedules, and inbound logistics.
- Forecast demand based on sales trends and operational needs to maintain optimal stock levels without over-ordering.
- Maintain a strong understanding of market trends and product availability.
Compliance & Reporting: • Ensure all inventory activities align with local and state cannabis regulations (e.g., packaging, labeling, chain of custody).
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate inventory data within state tracking systems like METRC.
- Prepare and submit compliance reports as required by regulatory agencies.
- Work closely with compliance officers and regulatory agencies during inspections or audits.
Team & Process Oversight: • Supervise inventory staff, ensuring proper training on SOPs, systems, and compliance.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for inventory handling and procurement workflows.
- Collaborate with other departments (sales, finance, retail, cultivation, or processing) to align inventory with operational needs.
Technology & Systems: • Utilize ERP, seed-to-sale, and inventory management systems to maintain data integrity.
- Generate regular inventory and purchasing reports for internal use and regulatory compliance.
Cannabis Budtender Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales: • Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Listen to customer needs and provide product recommendations based on desired effects, medical conditions, or recreational use.
- Educate customers on different cannabis products (flower, edibles, concentrates, vapes, topicals, etc.), including proper usage, dosage, and effects.
- Upsell and cross-sell products to increase sales while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Compliance & ID Verification: • Check customer identification to ensure all patrons meet the legal age requirement.
- Follow all local and state cannabis laws, including purchase limits, product restrictions, and sales tracking.
- Maintain a clean and compliant work environment in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
Product Knowledge & Inventory: • Stay up to date on the latest cannabis products, strains, brands, and industry trends.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of THC/CBD levels, terpene profiles, and consumption methods.
- Assist in inventory management, including restocking shelves, tracking product levels, and reporting discrepancies.
Cash Handling & POS: • Accurately operate point-of-sale (POS) systems to process customer transactions.
- Handle cash, debit transactions, and discounts with precision and accountability.
- Ensure accurate entry of product information and customer data as required.
Store Operations: • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming sales floor and product displays.
- Assist in opening and closing procedures, including counting tills, cleaning, and security checks.
- Communicate customer feedback and product issues to management.
Qualifications: • Must be 21 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous customer service, retail, or cannabis industry experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cannabis products and willingness to learn continuously.
- Excellent communication, sales, and interpersonal skills.
- Must pass all background checks and meet state-specific cannabis employment requirements.
