A dedicated candidate with a desire to learn about veterinary medicine. Organized and dependable candidate successful at managing multiple priorities with a positive attitude. Willingness to take on added responsibilities to meet team goals.
My primary objective is to gain extensive knowledge in veterinary medicine. I plan to dedicate most of my time to observing various surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, amputations, and other life-saving techniques. I have had the excellent opportunity to watch surgeries such as cholecystectomies, splenectomies, and TPLO surgeries. I have come to understand the significance of being in an operating room and gaining knowledge and experience by observing quietly. First-hand experience is incredibly valuable as I pursue my journey in veterinary medicine.
My responsibilities primarily involve farmhand tasks, such as feeding hay, mucking stalls, and encouraging the exercise and well-being of the horses. Occasionally, I receive veterinary guidance from the stable's DVM, along with insights on farriery and dental care.
This family farm consists of cows, goats, chickens, horses, cats, and dogs. My overall responsibilities include, but are not limited to, feeding, herding, milking, and ensuring the well-being of the animals. Occasionally, the family vet makes house calls, providing me with opportunities to learn from them. However, most of my time on the farm is spent without direct veterinary experience.
As a kennel technician at a high-volume boarding facility, I had to think quickly to ensure the animals had a safe and comfortable environment. My responsibilities included cleaning, feeding, and administering medications. My experience at the boarding shelter was invaluable in learning about the behaviors of animals in unfamiliar settings. This skill has translated well into my interactions with animals in clinics and other stressful situations.
