- I assess for children's safety when a referral is screened in. I work directly with children and families to establish if the children in the home are safe, if allegations are true and if the families require additional services and supports that could potentially mitigate safety concerns and the reason for DHS involvement. I have removed children from their homes when there are safety concerns present and placed children with either kin or out of home foster care. I document all efforts and services provided.
