  • I assess for children's safety when a referral is screened in. I work directly with children and families to establish if the children in the home are safe, if allegations are true and if the families require additional services and supports that could potentially mitigate safety concerns and the reason for DHS involvement. I have removed children from their homes when there are safety concerns present and placed children with either kin or out of home foster care. I document all efforts and services provided.   • In March of 2020 (right when COVID Struck) I made a lateral move to Placement Resources to work with the Kinship and Foster Home Department, my current job duties include walking families through the foster care certification process as well as assist kin families engage with The Department when they are choosing to be kin placement for children involved in the child welfare system. I also write SAFE Home studies using the appropriate study template and continually assess for child safety. I engage in Family Engagement Meetings and work closely with ongoing caseworkers that manage the case and advocate and support family structures.
