Leader responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies to ensure product availability in three Latin American countries (Mexico, Chile, Colombia) for Laika Mascotas—a prominent pet ecosystem that seamlessly integrates online and offline platforms and stands as one of the top startup companies in terms of valuation according to Y Combinator—my team's roles encompassed a range of critical responsibilities: Develop supplier partnerships to assure negotiation gains and minimize supply risk, perform demand planning to optimize working capital and meet purchasing budgets, and executing precise purchases to meet internal and external stakeholder expectations.

Achievements:

• Facilitated 70% increase in sales within one year by integrating over 8,000 new products from 32 new suppliers, while maintaining reliable supply for existing 30,000 products. This initiative was complemented by reducing the weighted stockout rate from 32% in 2021 to 4% in 2024.
• Negotiations for cross-docking with the 25 largest suppliers in Colombia generated $270,000 in 2023, exceeding the required amount by 20% and effectively covering logistics costs.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that strategic and tactical business decisions are made with a thorough understanding of supply chain capabilities, effective risk management, and impacts on service, cost, working capital, and sustainability. I lead and implement supply chain projects, including plant shutdowns, warehouse setups, product introductions, new distribution networks, and allocation plans. Additionally, I manage over $15 million in inventory monthly to meet target expectations and customer service agreements.

Achievements:

• Directed the launch of 16 projects for the Polyurethane business in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Chile, starting in the second half of 2021. These initiatives drove a volume increase of up to 7,000 tons by 2022 and generated an additional annual Total Variable Margin of $12 million, marking the highest historical business growth in a single year.
• Led 3 Optimization projects to reduce operation costs without impairing customer service: Rail Decongestion Project (Saving up to USD $200k/yr), Barranquilla Terminal new product distribution (Saving up to USD $350k/yr) and El Bajio new Distribution center (Savings up to USD $120 MUSD/yr).

Responsibilities:

Develop time-phased supply schedules to meet short-term business requirements, considering plant-wide constraints and achieving inventory and customer service targets. Identify, prioritize, and resolve supply issues to ensure business obligations are met, even in the event of unplanned disruptions.

Achievements:

• Successful Implementation of 3 Supply & Demand tools to optimize operation cost, meet customer expectations & keep stakeholders informed: OMP (Cloud supply planning tool), SDB (Excel based supply balance tool), S&OP Meetings (Supply risk & highlights communications)

Responsibilities:

Leverage technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve issues, and ensure the safe and efficient production of high-quality, low-cost products. Collaborate closely with a team of 20 operators and technicians to harness their problem-solving abilities for advanced troubleshooting and enhanced operational discipline. Provide leadership and expertise in diagnosing and optimizing raw material efficiency, focusing on improving yield and minimizing waste.

Achievements:

• Optimized the production cycle time for seven products, achieving an additional 175 production hours in just three months. This improvement resulted in an estimated annual revenue increase of $300,000 for the business
• Led the SuizAgua Project for Dow in Colombia, securing internal and external funding from ANDI and the Swiss Embassy to invest in water management for the local basin. Through collaboration with six stakeholders—including three private companies and three NGOs—successfully established a Fishing Production and Training Center in a community within our operational area, benefiting 700 people.

Responsibilities:

Utilize technical and organizational expertise to lead the plant's continuous improvement program, focusing on maximizing asset value, enhancing process safety, and boosting production efficiency. As project team leader, oversee all aspects of project execution, ensuring adherence to scope, objectives, costs, progress, and risk management to achieve desired results.

Achievements:

• Oversee all phases of 9 capital projects, including scope definition, design and engineering, procurement, construction, startup, and financial closing, with a total investment of $1.5 million USD. Successfully deliver each project on time and within budget.
• Pull and lead the Water Management team for the production site, implementing four initiatives that reduced the site's annual fresh water intake by 27%. This reduction equates to over 10,400 m³, enough to meet the annual water needs of 100 families of four.

Responsibilities & Achievements:

Manage overall planning and organization during the construction phase of eight capital projects, with a total investment of $600 million USD. Each project met business requirements, adhered to budget and schedule, and maintained a perfect EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) record.

Chosen as a graduate trainee from over 900 applicants to receive in-depth training across all company functions and to develop an impactful project throughout the year-long program.

Research on Sustainability under Dr. Sam Mannan (40 hours/week): Development of a guideline to perform Sustainability Assessments: A case study applied to biodiesel production

• Developed a new product from prototype formulations to initial production: Club Colombia Negra.
