Leader responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies to ensure product availability in three Latin American countries (Mexico, Chile, Colombia) for Laika Mascotas—a prominent pet ecosystem that seamlessly integrates online and offline platforms and stands as one of the top startup companies in terms of valuation according to Y Combinator—my team's roles encompassed a range of critical responsibilities: Develop supplier partnerships to assure negotiation gains and minimize supply risk, perform demand planning to optimize working capital and meet purchasing budgets, and executing precise purchases to meet internal and external stakeholder expectations.

Achievements:

  • Facilitated 70% increase in sales within one year by integrating over 8,000 new products from 32 new suppliers, while maintaining reliable supply for existing 30,000 products. This initiative was complemented by reducing the weighted stockout rate from 32% in 2021 to 4% in 2024.
  • Negotiations for cross-docking with the 25 largest suppliers in Colombia generated $270,000 in 2023, exceeding the required amount by 20% and effectively covering logistics costs.

  • Optimized the production cycle time for seven products, achieving an additional 175 production hours in just three months. This improvement resulted in an estimated annual revenue increase of $300,000 for the business
  • Led the SuizAgua Project for Dow in Colombia, securing internal and external funding from ANDI and the Swiss Embassy to invest in water management for the local basin. Through collaboration with six stakeholders—including three private companies and three NGOs—successfully established a Fishing Production and Training Center in a community within our operational area, benefiting 700 people.

  • Pull and lead the Water Management team for the production site, implementing four initiatives that reduced the site's annual fresh water intake by 27%. This reduction equates to over 10,400 m³, enough to meet the annual water needs of 100 families of four.
