Volunteer
While enrolled in the IB program at Poudre High school I was tasked with completing 100 hours of volunteer work at an organization that helped the local community. I was a long time coustmer of the FoCo cafe and I'd always admired their mission of providing food to people in tough places, so spending my volunteer hours there was only natural. I didn't exactly have a set role in the cafe==some days I would wash dishes or clean the floors, other days I would discard expired food, take orders, or even tend to the garden that grew out back and provided the cafe with fresh fruits and vegetables. Basically I was an extra set of hands able to fill in wherever needed. My fluid status at the cafe meant that even working at a single location I was able to gain experience in a diversity of positions and learn the adaptability to switch between them on a whim. Combine that with the satisfaction of serving my Fort Collins community and it's safe to say my time at the cafe was an extremely positve expierence and one I'm glad I took on. Because of my good memories from volunteering at the cafe I acturally returned multiple times to participate in food drives and other fundraising events after completing the original 100 hours!
