Atmos Zero

- Atmos Zero is a startup company aiming to decrease emissions in an industrial scene with its hybrid boiler that uses electricity and ambient heat to produce steam.
- Our project aimed to propose a full technical and economic analysis to integrate Atmos Zero's hybrid boiler into the facility at New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins by repurposing waste heat from their facility as the secondary heat source, instead of ambient heat.
- This project has escalated my knowledge of creating thermodynamic models, risk analysis, and overall understanding of plant engineering on both the technical and economic scales.
- My main roles were sizing the piping using our data, and developing a pipe routing from the Atmos Zero boiler to our integration location using SolidWorks. This model was then used to determine pressure losses to size our booster pump.
- I also developed a proposed budget for the overall integration, which included total pipe length, pipe elbows, valves, heat exchanger, booster pump, and labor.
