Intensive Care Unit, St. Thomas West Hospital

• Provided skilled, timely and level-headed emergency response to critically-ill patients.
• Administered medications including initiation and active titration of continuous IV medications such as vasopressors, vasodilators and inotropes based on patient condition and response.
• Assisted providers at bedside with common ICU procedures including intubation, bronchoscopy, central line and arterial line placement, thora and pericardiocentesis.
• Floated between CVICU and Neuro ICU. Proficient in EVD management, and q1 neurological checks on stroke patients post mechanical thrombectomy and TPA/TNK administration.

Cardiac and Vascular Surgery Progressive Care Unit

• Managed 3-4 patients recovering from open heart surgical procedures and educated patients and caregivers regarding plan of care, medication use, activity restrictions and discharge planning.
• Upheld facility standards of care and participated in implementation of evidence based practice to promote better patient outcomes.

CV surgery/Medical ICU

• Managed 1-3 critically ill patients with emphasis on open heart surgeries post op day 1 and on, sepsis, shock states, ARDS, DKA, renal/liver failure, and ETOH or other substance withdrawals.
• Trained to manage patients on Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (iABP) devices in a 1:1 nurse to patient setting

*I have not been trained to care for cardiac surgery patients directly out of the OR or for the first 8 hours post op.

Progressive Care Unit

• Direct patient movement within 16 bed unit including admissions, discharges and downgrades. Often managed personal 1-4 patient assignment while acting as Charge Nurse and serving as a resource for bedside RNs throughout shift
• Trained several new graduate and experienced nurses to unit protocols and standards of care.
