
Firefighter: As a Firefighter I improve and keep up on my skills by training and studying to
ensure a clean and systematic response on order to keep not only my crew but myself safe I am responsible for cleaning and maintaining not only my equipment but also my station and the apparatus I am assigned It is my responsibility to protect people, property and the environment by knowing the operating procedures, strategies, and tactics of my department and my Chiefs, Lieutenants, and Captains Finally, I am responsible for performing hazard and risk assessments and conducting a complete incident analysis I am assigned to a crew engaged in airfield, structural firefighting, crash-rescue, Hazardous Materials Technician, Drove and operate firefighting vehicles of significant complexity, to respond to the presence or potential releases of hazardous materials for the purpose of stopping or controlling the release
Driver Operator: I am trained to operate and maintain all vehicles I am assigned to, driving the crew to and from the incident in the quickest and safest way possible It is my responsibility to keep track and ensure all equipment is accounted for and the apparatus is in good clean working condition As a driver I am responsible for knowing my district including the facilities, roads, and any priority buildings/equipment in that area As a Driver Operator I am assigned to drive and operate firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers, tenders and Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles
EMT/NREMT: As an EMT I have been assigned to perform Basic life support actions to the victims before they are transported to the hospital It is our responsibility to determine the proper course of action after evaluating the patient’s condition based on our current scope of practice Provide medical aid such as AED, CPR, prevent spinal damage, ventilation, control severe bleeding, prevent shock, bandaging wounds, etc, to stabilize the victims condition Additionally, I am assigned to mitigate the situation and try to speak to the victims and calm the victim's family down, being honest and explaining the procedures that are taking place Finally, I am responsible to attend refresher programs and continuing education as required by medical control, employers, certifying or licensing agencies to keep up on my skills and new procedures
Hazmat Tech: It is my responsibility to be knowledgeable of hazardous materials emergency response procedures, equipment, identification, and mitigation actions It is also my job to ensure
the equipment is in good operational order and all battery-operated monitoring devices are fully charged and calibrated I am knowledgeable and able to properly use all equipment as well as assist devices ie Niosh pocket guide, highway carrier manual, and ERG I am responsible for knowing what equipment I have, how many pieces I have, where they are located, and what their proper use is in order to ensure a seamless systematic Haz-Mat response
Airport Firefighter: As an Airport Firefighter I am trained to perform Crash-Rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high and potential for becoming destructive is great I maintain up to date knowledge of the frequent changes of aircraft design and layout, as well as the different variations of setup in which an aircraft can be configured
Wildland Firefighter: As a Wild-land Firefighter I are responsible for being aware of any and all surroundings, changes in the weather, and knowing where all our escape routes, safety zones, deployment spots, lookouts, etc are at all times as well as ensuring my crew and myself are safe It is my responsibility to stay up to date on all changes to strategies, tactics, and procedures throughout my time on and off the fire-ground I ensure all equipment to include my apparatus, tools, and safety equipment are up to par and in working order I am responsible for staying healthy and fit in order to ensure quality and performance through the fire
Station Caption/Crew Chief: As a Fire Officer I am responsible for the safety and well-being of my crew and myself on the fire-ground as well as around the station It is my job to size up and give a clear picture of the emergency situation, as well as manage my engine, arriving units, and the individuals we assist I am responsible for following any and all SOP's and department practices in order to properly assess and manage the incident
